This review is based on my breakfast experience! I love it here. Great pasteries, awesome breakfast sammie and despite the constant business, staff are so kind and ensure you have a great experience! It's a cozy spot, not too many tables but enough to ensure if one isn't ready yet, it will be shortly! Don't let the lines dissuade you! It's worth the wait everytime.

Tasting menu review! Overall I enjoyed my experience at Kasama, but definitely feel that it's too expensive at $285. Yes, there are things like caviar and truffle which add to the price tag, but I rather have a menu that was focused more on bringing out the flavors than decadence. For expensive meals like this, I always find myself going back to an experience where I thought if I never eat again after this meal, life was good. While the food at Kasama was good, nothing was truly mind blowing. With tax and gratuity, the bill comes up closer to $400. The waitstaff are attentive and nice, but maybe because of the smaller intimate setting, the experience goes by a lot faster than expected. Some of the courses, I was not too fond of, particularly the croissant. I enjoy the truffles and the croissant but it's not really something I picture as a dinner dessert. I did enjoy the salmon skin chicharonnes and the half fried lumpia. All in all, I'm glad I checked it off my bucket list, but was left wanting more

Despite waiting 1.5 hours for breakfast, we left very content. Unfortunately the line moves very slow, even on Friday mornings. So perhaps you can preorder and pick up take out! But we were glad to be seated to eat the Filipino breakfast and chicken adobo. We also got the breakfast sandwich with longanisa and hashbrown. The chicken adobo was by far the best dish. Sandwich is pretty good as well, but would not wait 1.5 hours for it. So next time we would consider ordering take out. I'm a Boston cream fanatic and theirs was one of the best! Not your typical donut, as the dough resembles more of a croissant with a caramelized bottom with lighter filling on the inside. Light but yet decadent! Their ube latte and sesame latte were delicious. Not too milky and had the right sweetness. The banana pie was also a hit. We really enjoyed all of their other pastries! Staff was super friendly and accommodating even with our carry ons as we came straight there from the airport. Once we ordered, we were able to get on a wait list for a table. Otherwise they said it was first come first serve with tables. Kasama has a Michelin star for dinner but not for breakfast but still highly recommend their breakfast!

Biggest takeaway - get in line before they open. We arrived Saturday morning, got in line 5 min before they opened and it took us two hours to sit down and get our food. We hate lines, but afterwards everyone said it was SO worth it. TIPS - don't come with boring people. Order extra for later. Food was so flavorful, and not greasy. Small restaurant. Cozy vibe. Felt like I was in my aunties kitchen. Add this to your must-eat lost while visiting Chicago.

A few years ago we went for the cafe/bakery in the morning and loved it. This visit we wanted to try the fine dining experience. Luckily, we were able to land a reservation. Along with the tasting menu we tried 4 different drinks they had and all of them were delicious and not overwhelmingly strong or sweet, just balanced. As for the tasting menu, even though they were small, I was so full at the end and wanted more of every dish that was brought out. It was amazing to see traditional Filipino dishes elevated. The service was amazing and it wasn't too loud or quiet around us. The kitchen and waiters/waitresses were very attentive and nice. We even got a signed card and recommendations from everyone of places to eat the rest of our stay! Looking forward to coming back here the next time we're in town!

Landed in Chicago for the first time this morning and this was the first thing I ate... the bar is SO high right now for the rest of my trip! We ordered pastries online ahead of time and went straight to the bakery to pick it up. Service was great and our pastries were ready when we got there. We ordered the following: chocolate chip cookie, PB&J whoopie pie, black sesame coconut macaroon, citrus poppyseed poundcake, brownie, apple hand pie, and black truffle croissant. We sampled each of them and while everything tasted amazing the clear favorites for us were the black truffle croissant, apple hand pie, and black sesame macaroon. Honestly, I could buy another box of just the croissants with how delicious they were. I'm already planning my next visit while I'm here so I can dine in!

Kasama is a Filipino restaurant in Chicago with accolades including a Michelin Star and a recent James Beard Award for "Best Chef" in the midwest. Kasama is the first and only Filipino restaurant in the world to have the Michelin star (however, this may change when the Michelin Guide debuts in the Philippines in 2026). I was not able to snag a dinner reservation here, but I did show up for their breakfast! The lines are crazy in the weekends and I opted to come an hour before opening and I was 2nd in line. For breakfast, their seasonal offerings can be found on the website. If you don't want to deal with lines, then, on the day of your visit, you can order certain menu items online. If you do this, then you will have to take your order to go. I had a longanisa, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich, which was delicious. The crisped up longanisa was sweet and savory, but the soft egg and american-style cheese added creaminess. The brioche bun added some nice soft, chewy texture. I enjoyed and savored this sandwich. While there were some really fancy things on the menu, there was no way I could pass up longanisa. For pastries, I went with their black truffle croissant. The croissant was made with european butter, which is important for that flakiness that you want. It was filled with a nice, creamy cheese and the shaved black truffle on top added unbelievable savoriness. The combo of cheese and truffle is what brings the punch of flavor to the crispy, flaky croissant base. They have a ton of pastries in their case and I went with a chocolate and salted caramel tart and a apple hand pie that was filled with pastry cream. They had a bunch of beautiful fruit tarts here and I wish I could have them all; however, I can't eat as much as I used to. Overall, I would highly recommend visiting Kasama for breakfast if you are able to manage the crowds and long lines. Do plan ahead as your options will be limited if they sell out of their most popular items. Because I'm from out of town, I came early and I didn't want to mess around with that.

This review is looong overdue but back when I first visited Kasama, I knew this place was special. I had an lunch order for take-out and it did not disappoint! The truffle croissant is a MUST GET! One of the tastiest pastries, I've ever had hands down. The croissant was light and flaky, the truffle shavings on top gave it that savory twist, and the rock sugar and glaze played with the truffle so well! Not only that, there is a delicious filling inside that resembles a cream cheese but better. I could probably eat a cup of that alone! Kasama elevated the pastry game to a new level and I am here for it! When the foie gra prosciutto is available -- get it! I also got the Kasama combo sandwich which is a generous size. A bit messy but that's because the meat is so juicy. We also tried the breakfast sandwiches where the hashbrown was the standout for me. Protip is to order ahead of time online so that you don't actually have to wait in line. Looking forward to making a reservation for dinner next time!

You should never meet your heroes cause you'll find out they're human just like you. My expectation for this place was beyond superb. A michelin star Filipino restaurant! So, I was prepared to be disappointed. Half way thru the dinner, I concluded I could die a happy man. Everything they brought out was good, except that 75% of it is out of the ballpark. Dishes that gave me goosebumps, a tingly sensation as if tinker bell just drop fairy dust or just made me giggle with happiness for being there are: lumpia(egg rolls), nilaga(beef stew), king crab mushrooms, Kare Kare(beef curry) and the truffle croissant dessert. Each dish alone would be enough to blow your mind. Having them in one meal is just plain Hedonistic. It's not so much an avalanche of flavors, but by deconstructing the dish and giving you the pure essence of the taste is absolutely sublime - sublime I tell you. Our server Jude and the rest of the crew was chill, courteous, and attentive. It's not easy getting reservations but keep trying. Kasama is worth the effort and the price!
